Emerging challenges to judicial independence in democratic systems: Contemporary developments in the implementation of the ELI–Mount Scopus Standards

Turkey and Comparative Law Perspective
• Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Demir – President of Human Rights Defenders e.V.; will give a presentation on judicial independence and the role of the Constitutional Court in Turkey.

 

The conference is organized by the International Association of Judicial Independence and World Peace (JIWP) in cooperation with the Faculty of Law – Institute of Eastern European Law at Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel in Germany.

The academic leadership of the organization is carried out by three co-chairs:

• Prof. Shimon Shetreet – JIWP President (Hebrew University of Jerusalem)

•    Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Alexander Trunk – Director of the Institute for Eastern European Law at Kiel University

•    Prof. Hiram Chodosh – JIWP Vice President, President of Claremont McKenna College

This structure demonstrates that the conference has a strong institutional foundation, both internationally and academically.
